I know this is a touchy ‘subject’....buying new vs used, but for me, new car smell and putting the first 50k on a car makes me giddy....:D... plus, if something breaks.... it goes right back to dealer.....im not easy on cars.... new or used.
I used to buy new or very close to new when I drove more, but over the years I became less and less intrigued by it. Started to enjoy the lack of a payment more than anything, plus I really don't drive that much in my current job. Less than 8500 - 9000K miles a year, counting vacations. Makes it hard to justify in my case.

I'm very cheap on most things. Probably TMI, but as a child my parents had some financial issues with my father's job loss, then serious health issues with my mother. I'm sure that helped form the way I feel about spending money as an adult. Having seen twice how having no money affects life, I tend to pad the back account.

I'm not totally void of having fun, though. I'll spend when needed or when the time is right. Holiday's, vacations, gifts on special occasions....and I'll certainly still buy myself something nice every now and then. Got to enjoy it sometimes, right? I just have certain financial rules that I won't break, and adjust my spending according.

Won't lie, though...sometimes I would like to buy a shiny new ride (and kind of did with my last vehicle, at least for me), but I tend to get bored with things quickly. When that happens with a car and you have thousands in debt left on it, it makes me sick. That's why I got rid of the jeep and got my Tahoe 3 months ago. Dropped over $10k in total debt and took in a big deep breath and smiled. Plus I got back in a Tahoe. My default vehicle.

And here I was making fun of @iamdub yesterday for typing walls of text...

just faced this yesterday on our 2015 with around 60k miles. temps raised this last week and my wife put the AC on, but it only blew hot. took it in yesterday and after looking at it was told its needs a new condenser and lines. something about the lines leaking or something. quoted approx $1200.00 to fix. luckily we have the extended warranty and only paid the $100.00 deductible. all fixed and blowing cold again! after reading this thread though seems like its a common issue.

Glad it was resolved but it sucks ass that it was an issue in the first place. And that you had to tell the service department what to do.

Lol. He didn't have to tell them "what to do" unless he took it in and they said there was nothing wrong and then he told them to look at the condenser. It sounds like he went in there and told them he already knew the truck had the special policy.

The dealers always play dumb to try to get out of paying, the one honest chevy dealer by me closed up about 7-8 years ago... wonder why

How do you think anyone at a dealer makes any money by "playing dumb to try to get out of paying?" GM is paying when it comes to warranty work and dealers aren't owned by GM so why would they turn away work? No one gets paid anything for saying there's nothing wrong with your vehicle. Warranty work is great because it's a guaranteed repair with no waiting around for an approval 90% of the time.

From the OP:

"Not sure it would of been covered if I hadn’t brought the issue to their attention and mentions that others were getting it covered up to 60k miles. Pays to research some times"

My point was that the customer feels it may not have been covered under the policy had he not informed the dealership that others were getting it covered up to 60K. Meaning the dealership didn't know, so the customer had to make it happen. That's what I meant by that.

Right, "not sure." They can't be held liable for an answer they weren't even given the chance to make. I like these types of forums but the customer who has been to an online forum always feels like they have to inform the dealership what to do and they don't even give them a chance to make them happy. Either because they just think they know better (sometimes they might and sometimes they might not) or they're convinced the dealership is out to screw them no matter what before they've even pulled in the service drive (in which case no matter what happens they will feel screwed). No one is perfect at all times (are you at your job?) and of course there are bad dealers out there (just like there are some bad tire shops, independents, and chain stores) but this crap spread online that every dealer sucks and every dealer is out to get you is just BS. A lot of people also like to judge a dealer based on their service writers who aren't the people actually working on your car.

well to be fair I didn't really trust the dealer to get me a square answer from the get go I believe they make more money off a customer paying out of pocket vs warranty work or my friend that works at the dodge places says he does, also most all things repaired at a dealer ship can be repaired at a locally owned shop cheaper most of the time, and to get back to this particular dealership just two weeks ago my gps antenna quit working I stopped by late one afternoon and asked if there was a way to reprogram it they bring it back in the morning and they would check.
drop it off next am they keep it few hours and call back and say antenna has failed and that it would need replaced to the tune of 475$ antenna and labor, I bought the antenna from a friend at body shop for 90 and took the 9!! yes 9 screws out that hold the center console visors and antenna on and replaced it myself in about 20 mine and could be done in 10 or less from now on, and to top it off now after having done one I can look at anyone else and determine the problem since my originals drain hole was in the back and the new one is in the front obviously they know of the problems!! btw they charged me 1/2 hour labor said they spent 3 testing it but cutting me a deal at 55$ plus tax

To me, I'm not even sure why there is a hole there. If it's a good enough seal, there should be minimal moisture in there.

That said, I can see why the hole was put in the back. If it's in the front, when driving in the rain, you will force feed water into there. But, then again, it's in the position to get rain running right into it when parked. Sealant anyone?
