I bought a 2019 Tahoe. Before buying it I did a lot of research and saw lots of complaints about booming. I test drove mine before paying and I didn't hear or feel anything out of the ordinary. I drove it at all different speeds and everything seemed fine.

The other night I picked up some takeout food, usually with the windows closed the smell of the food will still be there the next day so I cracked open the rear windows on the way home. Wow, as soon as I did that it was droning, booming.....I mean it was overwhelming. I could feel it in my ears, like strong bass on a song or a tuning fork. Shut the window and it was gone.

If that's what's going on with some trucks with the windows all closed then now I can see how you couldn't live with it. I've had a lot of vehicles but I never felt anything like that with windows opened or closed. I'm hoping mine doesn't develop it as I put more miles on it and I feel for all of those who are dealing with it now. Wow.....

Every vehicle I've owned has done that with a single window cracked open. Even worse with the moon roof open - the pop up air deflectors help but it still causes that movement of air. Outside of GM trucks/suvs this has been on several BMW's & Lexus. We currently have an '18 shorty Denali with no issues. Fingers crossed.

If you have the front AND rear both open/cracked, it becomes unnoticeable to me.

Had a 04 Grand Prix that did the window down noise and my buddy’s 09 Hhr did it and my 2002 Tahoe did it and my 2011 Tahoe does it. With the window cracked it turns the cabin of your vehicle into almost like a porter subwoofer box and your sitting inside it.

I was surprised at how uncomfortable it was. I understand opening the back windows will cause a sort of wind buffeting noise on any vehicle but this was in a different league. This was droning and vibrating and humming. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed too that mine doesn't start doing it with the windows up.

I would guess that optimizations to aerodynamics for fuel economy have changed the way the air moves by the windows - good for one thing bad for another.

I keep my passengers locked up so they can't open a window. No, I'm not a cop. I just have strict rules when riding in my vehicles. No telling what those filthy cretins would be doing if I didn't have them cuffed.
