I wanting to buy a wireless obd dongle to run the torque pro app. I know there are some low end units out there. But also seen a couple that has a faster read speed. Just curious what everyone is using or recommend.

This is the one I have...

https://www.amazon.com/Panlong-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Scanner-Android/dp/B00PJPHEBO

Works great, about 10 samples per second which is plenty enough unless you're really doing some performance related data logging.

I leave it plugged in all the time with no ill effect. I suppose without an on/off switch like the one above, if you left it plugged in for a REALLY long time with the vehicle sitting it could drain the battery, but it would probably take many weeks of just sitting.

From what I gather, the adapter needs to have the elm chipset. Ya know i went and bought the bluedriver adapter after looking at a few reviews. Not knowing that it wasnt compatible with the torque software. Live and learn I guess.

It has an AUTO OFF feature so you never have to unplug it from the vehicle and it won't drain your battery.

When you want to use it just hit the power button to turn it on. It connects to my phone/torque pro app quickly and works very well.

I had one old one that would not always connect to torque but left it in a car that was sold. I will look into the one above that turns off, sounds very promising.

I'm not certain which test you are referring to but it works with the Torque Pro app flawlessly. I haven't had any problem with it.

there is a test that the torque pro runs to determine the capabilities of the adapter being used, I bought a couple of adapters neither would even complete the test
