How do I lubricate or soften the metal to metal sounds coming from my rear doors? I've tried smearing Vaseline, and WD40 on the hinges, but maybe I'm missing something cause it's not getting any quieter. Does the lube have to be shot into place with a special kind of grease gun into a special port to reach the necessary area needing the grease?

I used to lube mine but it only last's a few weeks and then it starts making noise again, there cheap and easy to just replace the door stop (that is what makes noises not the hinges)

If you are sure it's metal noise then ignore my post. If not you may check the weather stripping at the top. My rear driver door squeaks like crazy because of the door rubbing the weather stripping.

if you can duplicate the sound while opening and closing the door repeatedly it is probably the hinge. I use a dab of wheel bearing grease on the spring and hinge. If you are talking about a metal to metal sound while driving with the doors closed it is probably not the hinge. Could be a worn out post. Try greasing that too.

I put some petroleum jelly up into the door itself where the doorstop goes and that seems to have reduced 85% of the noise! Thank you guys!

Does the door panel have to come off to replace this?

My '01 has been making thia noise for years and I've just been spraying some lubricant in there past the rubber grommet flaps. Noise comes back though in a couple weeks, worst when it's cold.
