Has anyone ever installed an after market gauge in the gauge cluster where the trans temp gauge would be in some models? Guess I'm just wondering if someone has successfully done it before I tear into things to attempt it.

What kind of a gauge are you thinking of? IMO it will look out of place unless it’s the factory trans gauge. There’s better places to put an aftermarket gauge.

Ha, I'm old, I don't give a shit what it looks like just wondering if it can be done. Standard 2 1/16" gauge, I've looked at the pod mounts and the steering column mounts and I don't care for them.

I’m sure it can, pretty much anything is possible with enough effort and/or money. There’s a blank spot there and quite a few have installed a stepper motor for the trans temp gauge where there was none so it shouldn’t be too hard. The clusters are a breeze to remove and pull apart to take a look.

With this year, it should be as simple as soldering in the stepper, adding the needle, changing the face plate. The gauge should just work if added.

He doesn’t want a trans temp gauge, he wants to install an aftermarket gauge where the factory trans gauge goes. He hadn’t specified what type of gauge....

If he didn't specify, then how do you know he doesn't want it to be trans temp?
