Hard shifting

Today I picked up my Yukon after
Waiting for a week in agony.
I drove it about 2 miles and the
Transmission started shifting hard.
I mean really hard. It doesn't slip
Just puts me in the back seat in
First and second. No clunking
Or banging or other weird sounds.
Fluid is full, pink no bubbles.
Smells a little funny, but not burned.
Any ideas?

take it back most places have a very short return policy, at least show them what it is doing and question it.

well, then I would take it by a Reputable transmission shop and ask them what they think that's probably the next best step and go from there they wont charge you for there opinion, lots of knowledgeable people on here maybe some will chime in with things you can check yourself if you want to go that route as well. If you have access to or have good scanner like a tech2 or snap-on or something that would be helpful in diagnosing. good luck

Yeah...i can take it to Napa, or AutoZone and get codes read.
Thanks SO much. My 99 jeep Grand cCheroke didn't have a way to do that.

What was done? What is the problem? I only drive manuals, but everything I have read about automatics is that's what you want. A hard shifting transmission may not be as comfortable, but that means it is working better.

firm is one thing, bang shifts are not normal.

Remember that everything is a system

Crank up the shift speed too much and you're at risk of busting other stuff. For these vehicles, things like the sunshell, sprags, and rear end will go out.

While a faster shift can reduce the heat and wear on the friction materials, you need to be mindful of what you're doing so you don't compromise other parts

Theres a shift spring that needs to be replaced in the tranny. I know it's called something else I just can't remember.

it's possible, but not guaranteed that it's a broken accumulator spring
