Just as the title exactly says. Have a '06 Tahoe Z71, and on Monday driving it to the store, once I got to the store and shut it off, the front blower motor continued to run.

Have read elsewhere the blower motor resistor module is notorious for going bad on these models. Could that be what has happened? After 12 years, something is bound to go bad...

Yes, resistor. You can pull the fuse in the meantime.

Yes, that was what I did. Shut off right then and there. Did locate the module, which is right under the dash, on the passenger side behind a shield. For kicks, after I unplugged the module (not where it plugs into the blower motor itself) I put the fuse back in and the motor did not run at all.

Ok... replaced the module with a $25 one I bought off Ebay, which came in today.

The blower motor no longer runs after the engine is shut off anymore, but runs kind of odd. After I start it up and turn the fan on, it takes about 15-20 seconds for it to start blowing air. Once running the blower runs great, responds well to the fan speed selection. Then, after a minute or so of running, the blower abruptly stops. This goes on for at least another 45 seconds, then kicks back on again. To only repeat the cycle. Totally frustrating!

Could it be my $25 cheapo module is a POS, and I need to shell out a little more $$ for a genuine GM one?

Welp, I can honestly say it was NOT a Dorman one...

Next, I found one, out of a junkyard vehicle on Ebay that is a OEM GM one, out of a 06 Yukon. As it has the exact "(1P) 52413530" and "3530" numbers as the one in my Tahoe. Can't hurt to try...

And if that one doesn't work, I'll go for the "upgraded" module, with the 5 pin harness. O'Reillys has one for $75, a BWD one.

Also came across some AC Delco ones on eBay, for around 55-65 bucks, if I want to wait some more...

What's different about the "upgraded module"?

They changed the wire harness configuration, have to cut and splice on a new harness end but it's supposed to improve "something" internally.

Yes, the old 3-pin version was eliminated in favor of a new 5-pin design. The two wires to the blower motor were integrated into the plug for a "cleaner" look.

Old:

New:

Also the "new" resistor has 4 heatsink fins, as opposed to the two on the old version.
