Hi all,

I have the grinding in the front driver's area when decelerating at around 25-35 MPH, which I am pretty sure is the front differential. I am prepared that sooner or later this will have to be replaced. Are there any recommendations for online shops or shops in the Staten Island/NJ area? There are several on ebay and google, but I'd prefer to visit a shop in the area that has experience with this.

Thank you in advance

Thank you. Yes, they do and are one of the ebay sellers. I have requested a price quote.

Hi All,

I am bumping this in the hope hat someone can reccomend a NY/NJ shop that has experience with front differentials or, alternatively, an online rebuilder they have used. What I am pretty sure is a bad differential is getting much worse and I am concerned it could cause a serious issue while driving. Thanks in advance.

I have the guys at J & B Transmission http://jandbtrans.com/ work on my truck when I am in NJ. Not sure about differential rebuild but they did fix the leak I had in the rear diff. They are located in Middletown NJ. Might be a little far for you. Good guys and I feel like I am not being overcharged compared to these money sucking NY mechanics.

Thank you for the teccomendation and the likes. I live on Staten Island so Middletown is not far. I'll give them a call.

Has anyone had an issue with the differential falling apart while driving? Took a 400 mile trip this past weekend and was a little nervous.

Thanks again, everyone

I had this problem in my 03 Denali back in the day. The problem was the carrier bearings. From what I understand it was a fairly common issue on the Denalis and Escalades. I did the work myself and it wasn't that bad. Only took a couple hours to drop the Diff and replace the bearings and reinstall it. If your handy with a wrench, it's not that hard of a job to do yourself.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think this may be more than I can handle.
