2003 yukon xl 5.3 ticking coming form compressor area. If I rev up, it smooths out as engines smooths. I wanted to know if there was something common on that side of engine that ticks? Lol thanks for any input!

My '06 made a tick that became a rattle. It was the tensioner pulley bearing shortly before it seized. I used a wooden dowel as a kind of stethoscope to track it down. It seized about an hour after I found it. Obviously, be careful around moving parts if you try this method.

You can take a windex type of squirt bottle with water and give the belt 2 or 3 shots.

If the noise stops, then the belt is junk..
And if ticking persists a bearing is at fault.

Don't forget that there are 2 belts so I would shimmy on my back under the front end & hit the AC belt only with small squirt of water. If the AC belt & tensioner are original to the truck, I would just replace it as a set with parts ordered from RockAuto & go from there.

So it's definitely coming from compressor. If it's ticking does that mean I should replace? Or just deal with the annoyance?
