My dash cover is SHOT. I bought one at the salvage yard. It's IMMACULATE but a different color. So I'm going to paint it. I'm looking at SEM product line. However, I'm not sure which color is the right color. I see I can buy paint sample strips. However, curious if anybody has done this before... or if know where I can lookup paint via car option codes.

Thanks!

What year fo you have? Post a pic of it.

I have a 2001 Z71 Tahoe. I've got a few pictures below:
  1. Options codes (not sure if this says what interior colors).

  2. New dash (the beige one).

  3. Old cracked up dash (I tried to repair it no luck).

  4. Close up (with flash) of dash, it's like a dark grey, charcoal color.

  5. Picture of door, the lower part of the panel is same as dash cover color.
Thanks for the help :)

if you look on the bottom of your old dash there may be a sticker indicating a abbreviated color scheme, it will def be inside a door panel also. but it looks dark pewter to me as well

I couldn't find a sticker on bottom of dash anywhere. However, luckily I also have a door panel off right now. The sticker was on back of that.

Curious though, that's probably a GM paint name? How do I order a matching color for the dash? Any ideas? I'm looking at SEM product line right now as I like their workflow. However, I may use another if it's easier to match colors.

this is probably the one you want, but there could be other very close colors, usually if you can eyeball one at a body shop paint supply then the color shown on the label is spot on.

I'm seeing many possibilities with this and hearing great things about SEM. The color of interior I have is very hard to come by in the salvage yard yet I have many broken panels. I think I may buy whatever I find and paint them. Also I just found a color card for all the stock mixtures from SEM. I ordered it off amazon. Probably I could have got it from SEM dealer for free but don't want the sales pitch :)

Did you buy the rattle cans when you did yours or do you have a paint gun?
