Hey all,

I'm currently looking into getting some headers for my 2016 Tahoe. Anyone have any recommendations? Possible Pros and cons about headers? Installation difficulty etc...

Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

i am researching them too.

i have heard good things about:
ARH (American Racing), Kooks, Stainless Works &Texas Speed

i have heard the ARH have better clearance than the Kooks
not sure how they compare to others yet.

i keep seeing most peeps are preferring ARH or SW.

are you 4x4? clearance would definitely come into play here.

other items to think about primary size (1 3/4 or 1 7/8)
catted vs non-catted
gaskets (most seem to come w/ cheapy gaskets, so find good ones)

i will get 1 7/8 as i have a supercharger.

I just had my ARH's installed, 1 7/8th no cats, paired with a aFe cold air intake & Corsa catback.
Here is a video of it front a cold start.

Also got her dyno tuned & have been loving the results, just FYI it's loud when you get on it. Pretty normal when just driving normal

I've been leaning towards ARH as well. My Tahoe is not 4x4. What's the difference between Catted and Non-Catted?

^ depends on your state, but overall emissions & sound.

lots of states require cats to be able to pass inspection

think green cats are for ******/hippy states like california ;)
supposedly they wont give CEL, but some have said they still get them.

What's the benefit of having Cats vs No Cats? Sorry man, trying to learn this stuff.
No prob, a catalytic converter basically reduces exhaust emissions from your engine so there is less pollution sent into the atmosphere. Basically, most cars since the seventies were required by law to have cats. That being said, if your state does not have emission inspections most guys either 'gut' them (remove the insides so its hollow) or remove them all together for a better exhaust flow....but most cats in today's world are designed and produced for a better flow than the ones made years ago. It depends on where you are in the country and your states laws... you may not have a 'sniffer' emissions test but there may be a 'visual' test.... which means they look to see that everything that year car was produced with is still 'entact' which is why you would 'gut' it. Hope im explaining it well enough for you and im sure someone will jump in and correct me....

Hey, what do you know! I'm in California. Lol. No way in hell that I'm going to pay extra money for a Catalytic Converter just to gut it. Good thing is, there's always a way around this to make it pass smog here. Man, this info you provided is very good stuff. Thanks alot for sharing!
