Ok so I did some modding to the stock wireless charger. I’m not trying to take money away from anyone selling the wiring adapter for the new style chargers and I didn’t want to spend another $110 for the new charger. So I did this.....

Removing the plastic covering the coil takes away added resistance between the phone and the charging coil. I have the plastic mat reinstalled over the coil and the phone charges in either direction. I can pick it up and down over and over without any issues. You can even reinstall the over current circuit. That’s the thin circuit that was plugged in over the coil and it still works fine.

I am fairly new to the operation of the whole system but I think the only way for CarPlay to function is to hook the phone to a USB port. I am thinking of adding wireless charging to my Tahoe which does not currently have it and I am curious to know if CarPlay functions when wirelessly charging. If not, the whole purpose is defeated. Thanks and great job with the install.
