I'm not sure if this has been covered, I apologize in advance if it has.
Those that live in Texas or a state that requires an OBDII emissions test, does a tune or the use of a hand held tuner such as the DiabloSport effect the outcome of the test?
I am considering a handheld to gain some slight performance through my stock setup and AFM disable, but do not want to have to dance back and forth when the yearly test comes around.

i have never had an issue from a tuner on any vehicles.

as long as all maintenance is kept up on your rig & there are no more than 2 codes for check engine, you should be GTG.

i had a car that had Evap & HVAC codes (1 each) & that kept it from passing. it passed everything else.
went home fixed one, then brought it back & it passed. the other was due to my setup @ the time. no issues since.

oh & window tint on front windows...some inspection stations can be a bit finicky, if its darker than 35%
some overlook 20%

Depending on where in TX you are - I have a great guy in Katy that will pass damn near anything as long as no lights on the dash. Doesnt care about tint.

Our mechanic does our inspections, and they know all the CELs we have are false alarms, so it's not that hard to pass inspection with them.

Thanks,
I wouldn't think just changing a few parameters and tweaking a few curves would cause a CEL as long as none of the emissions systems were bypassed, but I just wanted to be sure.

I have 35% on the front doors. Although I figure if you just rolled up with the windows down, how would they know unless they roll them up.

Depends on the shop. Some will actually check, others (most) dont give a damn, unless its like stacked limo.

most places raise the window a bit to see it.

i have often thought of 35% on top 3", then 5% below
but that strip would drive me nutz while driving.

then if they raised them all the way, the gig would be up ... lol

I just ordered my Diablosport tuner. Does anyone know if the AFM disable is part of the canned tune or you have to do it as a custom tune? I don't plan on going wild, just want to plug in the 87 octane tune and AFM disable, with 130,000 miles I don't want to stress anything out.
