Are all 6L80's built the same between the 5.3 and the 6.2? I remember in the 2000's the 4L60 was behind the 4.3, 4.8, and the 5.3, the 4L65 was behind the 6.0, and the TBSS had the 4L70. The 4L60 mated to the 4.3 had less clutch packs then the 4L60 mated to the 5.3. I wonder if there is any additional beefing up of a 6L80 mated to the 6.2 since it has an additional 60-70lb/ft of torque going to it. GM put the 9.5" axle because of the additional torque, so wouldn't the tranny be a little more beefed up?

There are incremental improvements for sure. I would not be surprised to learn of different part numbers or valve bodies and such. They also use these in the Camaro. There are 2WD and 4WD versions.

On my shopping list, low priority, is a 6L80 rebuild manual. Already have the shop manual for my year.
