transfer case selector

just began the other day. push button selector has been illuminated red over the "N", however i am in drive and moving. If i push 2H it will blink green. Shutting the vehicle off and restarting seems to let it go back to normal operation.

What is the red N light? and any ideas?

"N" is to put the transfer case into neutral for flat towing. Do you have a good scan tool to properly diagnose this?
