That is not bad at all. What size tires did you end up going with? Since I have the LTZ rims (20") I don't know if I should stick with the 285's or go with the 295's....

Depends if you offroad and how much trimming you are willing to do. I flex the suspension and had to trim ~2 inches from the from bumper valence.

SW CT,
TexasTahoe, I would go with the 295/55/20's with the factory wheels they should clear with no trimming. I run 305/55/20's on aftermarket wheels and had to trim quite a bit in order to not rub when I go offroad.

So if i may ask a quick question, it seem like the CCM 2007-2009 Chevy Tahoe GMC Yukon 2.5" LEVELING LIFT KIT or some leveling kit is necessary to go with LT285/70R17 tires? I like the BFG AT but just wanted to ask about whether stock height works for a 285 tire?

Yes, leveling kit, if you dont want to trim the wheel wells.
No leveling kit, you will have to trim but should fit

Zed/07Burb, how do you guys like those new Nitto TerraGrappler M/T's? Was looking at a set for my 09 Tahoe, are they decent on road? They look plenty aggressive enough for off road.

Sorry to bump an old thread, just curious.

The tires are great and I would buy them again. I have ~13k on them and they are wearing well (rotated 3 times now). I am running them at ~45 psi.

I would recommend them with a few caveats...

1. They are heavy so expect lower mpg.
2. They do "sing" at speed. I do not think it is that loud compared to other mud terrains. IMO the sound level falls in between ATs and MTs.
3. To maximize the tire footprint on the ground and also tread life, be prepared to run the pressure at ~45 psi. The combination of E load rating and relatively higher pressure stiffens the ride. I like it because it rides like a truck should, but those getting them for looks might not.

Yes these are to be expected, but I have seen some people (assuming noobs) complain about this.

Good luck and post your updated mods.

Zed...your Tahoe is awesome. If you get a chance would you mind posting a pic of the side straight on? I have the LTZ rims and wanted to do a photoshop on it to see what they would look like with the tg m/ts. Thanks!

Ha. I have the Z71 rims and and I wanted to put the LTZ on mine.
