How effective is the ol' Dynamat treatment for enhancing speaker output and killing road noise?

I'm interested in making the cabin feel and sound a bit more refined. I know I can replace the factory speakers easily and inexpensively. Just trying to gauge the return of the cost & effort of applying Dynamat to the door panel while I'm at it.

It makes a solid difference on a sealed speaker type enclosure I don't know if it would be effective to fatmat the whole door inside :/.
