So my 2001 Yukon XL had loose steering on it, it was almost like there was NO resistance on the wheel - if you sneezed you could be in the other lane - it was crazy..

1 bolt on the Intermediate steering shaft and pop out the sensor, plug it in..

20 minutes .. even a 2 year old can do it!! :)

Actually, I was getting ready to do this same thing. Really made that big of a difference?

If its "wife approved", then I definitely need to get on this! 204k with a brand new front end, and the truck still doesn't feel quite right.

Are you saying that you have to remove the ISS to install?
How much$ for the sensor?

yes tahoe too. You dont need to REMOVE the ISS, but you do have to disconnect it so you can get the sensor off (just 1 bolt under dash side) be sure not to spin the wheel - or you will be buying a clock spring too.

This sensor tells the PS pump how hard to work so to speak. It senses the movement of the steering shaft - at slow speeds the shaft rotates fast as you turn so it knows to "work harder" to make steering easier in parking lots etc.. At highway speeds you dont need the ps pump helping you along as your not doinf much steering... when this sensor is bad it does not know your making small adjustments and the pump still is workin as if you were at slow speeds - so it makes the steering very "touchy" if you will..

Yep. Wife approved. I got mine at Chevy dealer for $80? I hear autozone and the like have them for less.

Anyway to tell if it's broken? Multi meter? I'd hate to order sensor and its fine? My steering is very sensitive like you described yours tho but I am lifted with 35" tires.

Do you have a oem part # for the sensor?

I read a lot of places that you can simply un-plug it, and if yours is bad you will feel the diference , I guess it "defaults" to the high speed setting if you will..

Having said this I tried this - with no luck, but heck you can un-plug it in like 3 seconds give it a try.. Sorry, i don't have the PN and I already threw away the box.
