Just briefly today the security light in the upper right corner of instrument panel came on and in a couple of minutes it went out. Everything in normal, what was the reason ? Just curious. No help from owner manual other than it mentioned Passlock.

It may have stored a code (4 digits preceded by 'B') but I'm not sure if everyday scanners can pull security system codes. Wouldn't hurt to check, I suppose.

Thanks for the reply, UPDATE, all is well today. Manual says when key is turned on before start, the light will come on for about 5 seconds an go off which it does. The manual also said that it was part of the PASSLOCK system which was incorporated in the last 99 models, which would in turn disable the FI system and fuel pump rendering the vehicle non driveable , if the incorrect key was used. Bottom line, my Tahoe was built without the PASSLOCK key system, just the regular key fob and key. We were eating in the car with AC @ 40 degrees for like 30 minutes and it flashed on then off, just electronic mystery I guess.
