The paint on top of my truck is blistering a bit so I set up an appointment to have the top panel to be stripped and repainted.

I'm gonna pull the roof rails off before I go. Is it as simple as removing the torx screws, up and off? Also, will the exposed holes leak or are the rack mounts sealed.

Finally, are the rubber strips that lay flat on the roof just 2 sided taped on or are they screwed too?

Thanks

Yes, Just remove the torx screws but, you need to put something in the holes or it will leak.

The rubber strips have no screws , just glue or 2 sided tape holds them down

There is a guy on GMT 400 that was making covers if you want to permanently remove the rack , but he has not started doing it again. I am having a set made when he produces them again. Check page 7 to view pictures of the plates he makes.
