Hey all!! Wondering if this looks normal for the oil pressure reading. 99 obs suburban 5.7 vortec k1500. Its got no leaks oil changed every 3 months at the dealership. Gauge never goes low but dont think it ever sits at 40 except on first start up. Maybe my sending unit is bad?this was with cruise set on flat road.

Mine sits right at 40 cruising at 70 otherwise it sits at about 12 at idle I asked the same question a while back, was told it’s within GM specs by sunlitcomet

A decent rule of thumb is 1 PSI for every 100 RPM. Normal idle is between 10-20. Mine idles about 15, and depending on speed, 30-40. In other words, you’re good.

Sweet thanks yall. Yea for what ever reason it just looked low to me last night. Checked my oil and it was dead on and the compression test that was done a while back showed a good tight engine as the mechanic said.

If it continues to gnaw at you, it shouldn't, but if it does, pull the sender and attach a known good mechanical gauge and drive it cold and warming up and hot and verify the readings and while it is removed, replace the sender.
