Hey all. I am looking at new tires for the burb.

I really want something bigger/meatier.

Current tires are Kelly Safaris in 265/70/17.

I want to go to up to 285s.

I wil run a set of studded winter tires and get som A/Ts for summer.

Anyone running this size? Any rubbing issues or problems?

I know I will lose some mpg, speedo might be off a little, but I am ok with that.

Thanks!

I run 275's KO2's on my stock Z71 Suburban with zero rubbing issues.

Not sure if I could get away with the 285"s.

BTW, the KO2's are also a true snow tire as they have the little snowflake on the sidewall. They absolutely rock in the snow!

How do you like 275s? It seems they are not as common/harder to find than 285. That is part of my wanting to run 285s, for availability.

I have heard great things about the KO2 and want to get them next year for my summer tire, but the only place I can seem to find them where I live is Costco.

My local BFG dealer just needed one day to get them from the warehouse.

I really like the tire and the looks but not so much the loss of MPG. I think I have about 25K on them and still ton's of tread left which is good going into the winter (this will be winter #3 with these tires).

How do you like them for noise?

The Kelly Safari on there now is an M/T and the wife complains about the noise. (They howl pretty good at 60+ MPH, it's not just her).

I'm pretty much stuck between the KO2 and the Toyo Open Country AT2.

Now if someone would say that 285s will fit no problem, I'd be set! ;)

I just got a new set of 285/70-17 Nitto Terra Grappler G2s installed last week. Stock suspension height, stock wheels, no rubbing that I have noticed. I had read somewhere from someone else with the same size but different brand tires that they had some minor rubbing. Seems to be brand dependent.

After this winter I’ll be getting new ATs, likely the K02s in 285s.
