Well, Ridculous. My 06 Yukon xl was only rated to about 5000lbs towing. It has the 5.3l and the 3.42 gears. Compared to the Burb thats rated at 9400 to 9600lbs with the 3.73 gears. And the suspension is beefer. How much more can the 2500 tow over the 1500? Also the difference is in the suspension only right?
Suspension and brakes are better. The limiting factor is still the hitch on the GMT900 that is tied into the bumper. If you frame mount a hitch (like Duraburb does) it will be much more rigid, and easily tow more.
Looks like a nice upgrade. I was trying to find a GMT900 when we bought ours, but they all sold quickly. I am happy with the GMT800, 4.10 gears and 12,000 lb tow rating though
