allright , time has come for some new shoes....
my tahoe has a 2" front level only.

my questions....
does the 285 / 65 / 18 rub more from width or height ?

I am considering a 275 /65 /18 , but BFG 's are on backorder.
I can get a toyo at2, but I found some bfg 275/70/18 for a steal.

anythoughts on clearing a 275 (33" tall ) 70/18 with a 2" level ?

I am hoping the width would help clear the taller tire, with minor reshaping of the inner fender.

please advise, as I am ordering this week.

you should be able to do that with little trimming. when i put my tires on i only had to cut roughly 2 inches of the plastic wheel well. Zed has a thread on here about trimming for a level and tires on a z71. im sure he will chime in.

I have seen and spoke with zed,

I am just a litte leary of a 33 tall, but it is a touch more narrow.

my thought was to do the trim, then heat and reshape the plastic liner.

IMO you will be trimming either way. Just go with what will make you happy, width or height (that what she said :p).

Post pics when done!

i cut mine with a knife, and its hard to tell i even trimmed anything. if you feel like you need to heat and reshape it then thats up to you. but i didnt need to do that. either way it will look good. what he said^^^

A 2" level with a 275/70/18 (33.2") will definitely require simple trimming of the plastic liners to eliminate all rubbing, you may want to heat and shape after trimming as well as there may be minimal rubbing when flexed

You could do a 285/65/18 BFG-AT too, wider but not quite as tall as the 275/70/18

As far as width vs heigth, they both a role in rubbing up front as they increase the diagonal length of the tire when turning

using factory wheels? nitto makes a 275 65 18 terra grappler. it should give you a little more tire and should require very minimal trimming, if any compared to the other sizes listed.

Here it is,

275/65/18 toyo at 2. E load
no trimming required, but I intend to trim the liner fillet and make little room.

anyone who has removed the valance corners, WHAT DID YOU DO TO TRIM THE BUMPER COVER ?

The sidewall of the E load really helped eliminate some body roll. And so far, these ride very well, and are super quiet.
