Figured I'd post up a noob thread, glad to see a forum that is still active.....I know social media has taken a lot of traffic away from forums. I'm from Durham, NC.....work in Hillsborough, NC.....and live in Mebane, NC. Been around the car scene since I could drive.
Anyways, hope to pick up a 2008 Tahoe 4x4 LT this week, if things work out proper. I've been looking for a nice 2nd gen for several weeks, but when they appear they don't last long. This 3rd gen practically fell into my lap, so I decided to grab it. Nothing crazy for plans, maybe some 22" Silverado clones and a few other minor things. Biggest plan is the DD it, and for it to meet my likings.
From here down is some vehicle history, scroll if bored. The timeline is from most recently owned then back....
Last vehicle I sold, my 2006 BMW X5 4.8is. Fast and fun with tons of gadgets. I worked as a BMW tech for nearly 10 years, and I know this chassis is solid. I actually sold this because of all the road rage it brings in, without provocation. It was actually eye-opening. Just because of the logo on the front and back.
Prior to the X5 I had a 2003 Z06. Tons of fun, and right around 700rwhp. It had a stock longblock, minus the cam.....but had full bolt-on's otherwise, along with a A&A Vortech T-trim around 8psi with meth injection. Miss the hell out of this car.
And before the C5Z I had this Trailblazer SS. This was my second, I really like these trucks. This was a one-owner, 100% stock, 36k mile truck. Drove to Columbus Ohio to get it. Exhaust, cold air, tune, 4th gen Fbody electric fans, and I lowered it with Norcals DJM arms and Belltech shocks.
I do miss my '08 Denali. It was stock other than Corsa exhaust and the 22" CK375 replicas. Loved this truck. I'd still have it if it didn't try to downshift to 1st gear at highway speed. Or shut down all battery power randomly. I hear GM recently found the fix for this issue though.
The first mod I'll do will be getting my trainhorns on. These are Nathan P3's, the real deal. Decent size Vaair compressor, 5gal Hornblasters tank, nickle plated SMC valve. They are fun.....
This was my first Trailblazer SS. It just had exhaust and a tune (deleting torque management). I managed to window the block of the LS2. The TB SS's are known to oil starve the back cylinders since it has a front sump pan.
My old '93 notchback. Had a NX Nitrous kit on it. The whole kit was very well hidden, for some fun street action. I ran the purge out of the decimal in the passenger side 5.0 badge.
Might miss this the most, my '08 YFZ450.
And my first vehicle at 16yo, an '89 Toyota 4x4. Had a 3" body lift and some 33's.
