In stock form... I always loved the look on the Impala, so I didnt wanna swap out to custom wheels, although the cost of having someone do these could have bought one hell of an aftermarket wheel.

So the custom shop that I used to mod many of my vehicles including my esky was starting a new process of painted "chrome" which could be done in colors...

So I decided to talk to them about doing the wheels in BLACK CHROME.

Well aftrr they stripped them, I decided that I wanted them more durable than painted chrome, so we were gonna send em out for black chrome powdercoating. After stripping and sanding and blasting them smooth from all the clear and machining grooves they were shipped off.

Only problem wss the thin metal center caps could not be done... so what to do now??? Couldnt have my centers non matching, so I came up with an idea.

Although I loved the look of the solid black chrome powdercoating, this next idea looked great in my head.

Here they are back from the powdercoaters... no center caps.

So my new idea... since I love carbon fiber, was to have the faces hydrodipped in carbon fiber, then cleared to add depth to the look. I had previously done my mirrors with this process, so I knew I loved the look.

Here is what the mirrors looked like...

So the new powdercoating was scuffed on just the faces... then taped off to start the process...
