I'm on a lot of forums with the same screen name, long time member of PT.net, I've been in to Camaros, S10s, and full size GM trucks for about 20 years. I have two kids and live back in Alaska now, so hot rods and two wheel drive trucks have given way to a 2016 Suburban. My busy work season is over and doesn't pick up again until April so I'll be less of a lurker over the winter.

We picked it up used in Tennessee and drove it up in March, I've done the southeast to AK drive several times. If you have the time everyone should do it, it's gorgeous!

Only Mods/Upgrades to date are: Weathertechs for all 3 rows, BFG All Terrains, tint, fog lights, hidden LED light bar, and Corsa cat back.
Long term mods will include aFe intake and BB tune, just need time and money as always...

Here's some pics, not super exciting but it's a damn nice vehicle.

Not easy to keep clean, but I stay on it as I can.

This was over the weekend, just another day in the cold dark north. This is the Parks Highway, the road I live off and the only one that runs from Anchorage to Fairbanks.

Welcome! I'm down in Soldotna and we just got our first skiff of snow today. Good looking truck. And yes, the drive up the Alaska Highway is beautiful!

Welcome to active conversations. I always wanted to drive the Alaskan Highway but heard that it will wreck my vehicle with broken windshields, head lights, rattle production and other issues, like hitting moose, elk and bear. The roads must be much better now? I like the black emblems. Were they stock? Really go well with the vehicle appearance. Good looking Sub.

Welcome! That's a great looking truck, I love the light bar!

Thanks, I am pretty happy with the outcome.

Thanks! It's good and covered up here, been a few weeks already. Only one morning below zero so far.

The drive is rough on the vehicles for sure. My last two vehicles were black Z71s (2003 then 2011) and they had tons of specs on the front end. It's better in the winter in my opinion, fewer vehicles and RVs to throw rocks up.

Here's the windshield up close, I get about two years out of them... huge rock chip is the blur and it's so cold here in the winter the defrost cracks the glass across the bottom.

I guess that is the price one has to pay for living on/in our last great frontier. It appears you have accepted the wear and tear on your vehicles to enjoy living there. I think you are fortunate to live there and enjoy the freedom and great life of an explorer of sorts. I would have moved to northern Colorado, Wyoming or Montana years ago but my wife (of 48.5 years now) refuses to live anywhere north of southern Oklahoma. I liked the idea of great hunting, low population density and beautiful scenery to see all year long.
