Ok I have a 97 tahoe and experiencing a hard start that is getting more frequent. Also for the first few minutes it just dies restarts ok can happen up to 3-4 times in 10 minutes. When i got it a new fuel pump and filter were installed. Of course fuel gage bounces but hey

It wouldn't hurt to check the fuel pressure when it's not starting. Spec is 60-66 psi with ignition on, engine off.

Is the check engine light on?

No check engine light. Noticed that airfilter is nasty. I know it shouldn't cause it but when I put the new one in gonna clean the mass sensor just to help eliminate potential areas. And yes I have the proper senor cleaner lol

Check the throttle body while you're in there, make sure it isn't all gunked up.

Does the check engine light come on and go off when you start it? That is, the previous owner didn't pull the bulb did he?
