Just want to post something I thought was funny. We took the Yukon on our first camping trip this weekend. We have heavy pop-up camper. Heavy for a pop-up around 3500# empty not counting things like Frige ac, spare and gear. So it comes in close to 5000# loaded. I say all of this because we got better MPG pulling the pop-up then we did with that carrier on the roof. [emoji3] not much but about 1 MPG better.

Ive got a 2012 LTZ, and average around 15.8 MPG (over 70K miles). Crossing KS from Colorado, if I cruise at 77MPH, I’ll get 14, cruise at 71,MPG will jump up to 17+.

I've seen more than 17 mpg only twice and once was the day I brought it home! What kind of truck and what gears are in it Bill? Ours is a Yukon XL with 4WD and 3.42 gears.

I don't understand how having the rooftop carrier empty made any difference. Or am I not getting something?

did not mention if is was a hard case or soft, which could collapse a bit with less inside

My 4 inch lifted rig with 35 in tires and 4.10 gears. I also carry at least 150 pounds of bug out gear.

I get 15.8 on the low side lots of up and down hills or stop and go city driving and 19 on nice flat roads running 65 to 70 MPH.

Running 80 + mph in Utah I was getting an average between 16.8 to 17.5 and a 91 octane tune.

Wow you guys are getting low fuel mileage. I get 19mpg at 78mph in my yukon Denali 6.2. I get 13mpg n city. I've manually estimated my mpg since I've owned the truck and have never been able to get more than that. Stock engine, no mods. Stock tire size. I do have replica snow flake wheels which are a tad bit lighter than the oem Denali wheels I took off. Didn't really make a difference.
