My uncle has been getting a fuel smell from the fuel filler area since we changed the fuel pump. So far I have changed the gas cap and the evap valve at the fuel tank. He did have a check engine light that pointed to the evap valve so thats why we changed it with an AC Delco one. I really dont want to drop this tank again but its looking like im going to have to. Unless someone has an Idea on how to smoke test the system? Or is there some sort of metal coupling between the filler tubes? I cannot remember.

If you haven't dropped the tank recently it might be time.... Water sits at the top of that tank and just rusts the hell out of the fuel pump outlets.

I put in an ac delco fuel pump 6 months ago. It's all plastic up there. The old one was also.

It's also not at the fuel filler. It's actually more towards the drivers door area. So I did change the fuel filter also so maybe there is a small seepage there or a vent line going to the valve on the intake.

I am also getting a po440 code even after changing the valve near the tank in the back.

Check your evap line and system for blockages and proper operation. Did you roll the giant oring when reinstalling the fuel pump module and its not sealing correctly at the top of the tank?
