could you post some samples of the video quality

Try this link, it should be public.
it's the only decent one I have on my PC tonight.

I normally don't have the microphone set to record, but on this day it was on.
That music is coming from my stereo.

Just make sure it's set to 1080p.

If the link doesn't work I can pull some video from the drive tomorrow.

Why did you install a dash cam? And why are people still using stand alone gps units?

(Not trying to be abrasive, am honestly curious)

A dash cam because there are so many idiots out there that have no business having a drivers license and even the licqor cicle riders out there that will never get theirs back.

That's why.
So for insurance if you are rear ended or something?

I was one car behind a pretty nasty accident.
Speeding sedan clipped a minivan during an aggressive lane change.
Minivan lost control hit the media and flipped, sedan just took off.
If I had the camera at that time I would have had a clean shot of his license plate.

Rear camera would also catch someone on their phone or not paying attention if they rear ended you.
Same with the sides, plus wiring in 4x isn't that much more work than one or two.
Side cameras give a wider field of view for relatively low cost upgrade.

Plus, some times, I just see some funny shit on the road and can't get my phone out to take a picture.
