Have my dad's 03 rado. Doing a speaker uograde to stock head unit.
Question is it has seperate mids and tweets in the door. Can I add coaxials to the mid wires and get the same range of sounds (highs and lows)? Or do I add components and wire mids to stock mid wires and tweets to stock tweet wire
I've dealt with bose and basic stock coaxials, but not seperate mid line speakers.20180109_183354.jpg 20180108_154629.jpg

Not bose, I've dealt with bose in my tahoe. Thats why I'm asking cause I have no idea if there's a crossover built into the stock harness or what

if you look at the your picture of the back of the stock tweeter, you will see that little capacitor soldered on, that is what creates the "crossover" for the tweeter, if you run components you will need to have a crossover unless your going to stick with the stock tweeter then just bypass the crossover for the tweeter.

If it were me, I would wire new components to a new head unit.

Why keep the stock one? Any particular reason?

Why are you upgrading the speakers? Blown? Want better quality?

Yea I have bose in my tahoe. These are just mid grade speakers in a z71 silvy.

Thanks for the info @Doubeleive then coaxial to the wire for the 6.5 will work:thumbsup:

This is my dad's truck and the paper oem speakers finally died. So he's keeping stock head unit. I just wanna throw in some decent speakers, if I can get away with coaxials they will still sound much better at a better cost.
