So I just got a 99 2 door tahoe 5.7l and it's hard as hell to find a cat back for it as most are for the 4 doors. My question is would a cat back for a single cab truck be the same set up as my tahoe? They seem to be pretty much the same size vehicle...

Some kits come with a section of pipe that you use with longer wheelbase and leave out on shorter wheelbase. That is how dynomax kit for my 94 2 door came.

Regarding the wheelbase, the 2 door Tahoe did not share the same wheelbase as the SWB regular cab truck (111.5" vs 117.5", respectively).

A four door Tahoe had the same wheelbase as a short wheelbase regular cab truck. A Suburban had the same as a long wheelbase regular cab truck (131.5"). I would think that the fuel tank and spare tire locations would be more likely to have been shared across those platforms when compared to the two-door.

In the OBS trucks, the spare was stored inside for the Tahoe and Suburban, but underneath for the c1500/Silverado

Not entirely true... I think it depends on the number of doors and year.
My 99 Tahoe (2wd / 4dr) has the spare underneath.
All of the 2dr models that I've seen have the spare mounted inside.
Suburbans were mostly inside (maybe all).

If you want duals on a 2 door, you'll have to get a custom job. No company will manufacture a set of duals for a 2 door because of the lack of clearance on the driver's side due to the fuel tank. I got a custom set of duals done for a little over 200 bucks at a local exhaust shop.
