Like the title says, my rear window defroster on my 96 2 door Yukon with barn doors is blowing the 30amp fuse everytime I turn it on.

Wanted to see if y'all knew of any quick places to look to try and fix this problem. I am not really all that mechanically inclined, but I'm trying to learn from the folks who have been there, done that.

Thanks in advance

Well, it certainly sounds like a dead short somewhere. You just have to go looking for it. I don't have any specific insight other than I'd start with the doors to ensure that the wire hasn't been pinched or the plastic insulation isn't damaged somewhere.

Sunlightcomit will hopefully chime in and offer a more precise fix. :)

unknown at this time.
Barn door use door jamb contacts so if it the 30amper still blows when both doors are open then you can eliminate the doors and glass. If you disconnect the purple wire with the natural color plug closet to the chime module from the convinience center under the dash left side against the firewall and it still blows you have eliminated most of the body wiring leaving just the defroster module on the hvac control head in the dash unfortunate I don't believe the module is available seperately for purchase at least I can't find it so you may need the whole control head.
