It's pretty simple to just trim it down with it still bolted on. All you need is some tape to make a guide line and a steady hand with a jigsaw. I trimmed mine down by a couple of inches the other day.

Yeah...that would also require the "wife not kicking me in the nuts" mod for cutting her brand new ride vs "hey look honey, this part has a gmc part number and is a factory replacement so you don't fold the original one back when you park anymore"....

She would. It bugs the crap out of her and she too wants it changed...however...with a factory part.
She is pretty savvy on the whole me out there mod'ing stuff... Plus she is home on maternity leave, so I can't sneak out while she isn't looking...

now thats just odd to say folks dont take theirs off road, mine does all the time

not only do I have mine removed, I also added a winch
