Yeah, it needed to be trimmed on the top side and the bottom as well.

Console Install

The above link may help in case you hadn't seen it yet...

I forgot to mention, in the one picture of the shift rod, it appears to be a little bent to the bottom...so to speak. I plan when the weather gets warm, to flip the rod...to see if that makes it any easier to get in 4wd...It's not hard now, just want to see if it improves it any at all.

very very good write up.
i need to go back to the junk yrd and that shifter rod ,is
this rod shorter ? and i took my escy console apart it had
been painted before and very dirty.
I used that same plastic gray primmer and the promoter
spray, sem factory medium gray and clear gloss spray it
should handle scratches good. that bose spk is 2 ohms
so that amp will get hot driving that low impedence.

i need to take a break before i tackle this after dealing
with putting a 2 din touch screen in the truck wife not
happy:gunner:

Glad you installed it yourself. I might have to get another remote
i dropped it and now the chime is not loud like it was ..but it still
works fine.
95 black i got the 4x4 shifter rod today $1.00 and i think you can
heat the rod up to turn the knob so it don't rub the console i will
turn mine so the angle is pointing at my leg.
I will try to install the center console next week after i put it back
together.

As I recall, that knob has a angled keyway... I don't think heating it is going to help. Mine is really close to the console, but it does not hit.

I saw someone had simply used a smaller metal knob (which I never even thought about) and must have used some glue of some kind to keep it on. Looked pretty good there too. I was on a 92 i think, and it had the regular console, but it would work with ours...

well.... it's like this the weather was warm fri so i installed
the console and made cuts on the 03 floor shifter cover and
the knob will rub the console a little bit if put in N & 4 L
might have to look into a smaller knob like you seen.

I drilled a hole in the cover to put a green light for the 4x4
indication . I hooked up thet bose sub and man.... that
little sub has some thump with the right LP filter i had it
at 80 hz. The other controls that faces the rear seats i'm
going to cover them holes and where the cd player was
i will make a pocket to make it a usable space and i will
check with a locksmith to see if he can make a key for the lid lock. I will put the pics on photobuc sunday.
