Just an FYI, the Isimple Medialinx works. Wasn't having luck getting the chromecast to work so I got an HDMI cable from work and plugged in my lightening to HDMI adapter, then plugged my phone into that. Phone mirroring works. Now I can play Netflix for my little girls. Just need to get a short HDMI cable.

I just seen this after I posted something what's the difference between a regular hdmi to rca and the wire you have pictured.

The is isimple medialinx converts the phone digital signal to analog. Since I wanted to screen mirror content from my phone, this was the least bulky way I could find. Since the isimple cord has a female hdmi plug, I had to get an hdmi cable with male ends so I could plug in my Apple lightening adapter. Hope that helps.

I used the setup in the OP with the RCA to HDMI converter and it was working great. With my Galaxy S5. Recently upgraded to an S7 edge and apparently the S7 no longer supports HDMI out. I'm pretty cheesed because I just installed the video in motion. Anyone get this solution working with an S6/S7/S7 edge?

I have a note 5 and discovered the same thing.. no more HDMI out. I ended up buying EZcast to use miracast which mirrors your phone wireless using wifi. I found it to be troublesome. But they now sell Ezcast wire HDMI dongle which uses usb to connect your phone to the dongle. Eliminates wifi to mirror your phone. I haven't used it as I just used an old Samsung S4 (it has HDMI out) and use it to play videos and Netflix.
I just recent got an Apple TV box and will probably connect it to the SUV and just start using it for Netflix and other stuff.

Can you explain this setup a bit more? I have an older 15 that doesn't have built in Wifi. Only wireless I have access to would be my phone signal. I have the RCA/composite to HDMI converter and HDMI to micro HDMI cable (originally outlined in post 30 http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/thre...ash-and-rear-screens.63504/page-3#post-812090

Would this still work? Actually considering switching phones now that I have realized this. I love the expandable sd slot and water resistant stuff on the S7, and love the phone overall but this is a major bummer after I put a lot of resources into getting it set up to work.

Watch the ezcast youtube video -- link was on the previous post.

Connect Ezwire to HDMI input, USB cable to your s7 to Ezwire dongle. select USB tether .. follow instruction and your phone will be mirrored. You don't need wireless wifi .. you will use you phone's data.

jl - thanks for the heads up. I ordered the parts (medialinks and EZCast wire dongle). Here's the setup - I can't get it to work. I downloaded the EZCast app to my phone. The instructions are in broken English but seem to say that I want to turn hotspot on in my phone and USB tethering. I do both. I go into the app, select the tether option and "connect" and it just takes me to the default Android screen on my phone where I can turn USB tethering on/off. The blue light on the EZCast is on so I know it's being powered. I never get anything on the car screens, though. Any ideas? I'm attempting to navigate my way through some of the youtubes but nothing is very straightforward.

Follow up. I tested on a projector to see if I could get it to work, it appears I'm failing on two fronts. I'm not even getting the splash screen in my SUV, so something isn't right with either the composite input or the Medialinx. However, now I'm set up on the projector, I followed the same steps on my phone (enabled hotspot and USB tethering, selected the USB tether option from the EZCast app) and you can see in the screen shot (top right) it says my phone is connected - but it's not mirroring. WTF.

Try hooking everthing up on a TV inside your house first and navigate thru the setup menu. The EZcast probably needs to be updated. Use your home wifi to connect to it and perform updates. By the way, make sure you load your phone with the ezcast app. It won't work without it. Make sure your USB adaptor is 1.5A. It should be since I see you have it plugged in extenal plug. I'll pull out my ezcast and go thru it.
This is for the wireless one but it should be the same... Here and here

I was able to get in touch with their tech support via email and the guy has been very responsive. He told me to turn debugging on in Developer options and some other stuff but it's still not working. Here are the steps he told me to follow, along with screen shots. He said he will talk to his engineer and get back with me. He confirmed these were the proper steps.

Here you can see Debugging is enabled.

Here is what the default screen looks like before I hook my phone up:

Here is the screen with my phone connected but Hotspot and USB tethering NOT enabled. You can see the 3 blue dots in the upper right now indicating my phone is now connected.

As instructed, I then open the EZCast app first.

I hit the 3rd button down (the one that looks like a "W"), and I get this:

I press the "Connect" button and I am taken to this screen on the phone:

I turn the hotspot "On"

I hit the back button on my phone and it returns me to the app:

After the graphic pulses for a few seconds it returns me to this screen where I turn USB tethering on:

This screen from the app automatically pops up:

I press the "Connect" button, and after a few seconds, this screen comes back up on the phone:

As you can see from the screen shot of the TV, there is no mirroring.
