i want to get some new ProComp tires. and would like to know how much of a lift is needed to have 315/75/16's fit properly. i understand there will be some trimming possibly
315/75 = 34.6 tall , 12.5 wide

thats basically a 35. 6 inch lift with trimming

I squeezed some 315's on my old red '01 Suburban, with nothing more than keys, Z71 springs and 2" coil spacers.

By nothing more, I mean no more suspension or body lift. I did have to trim the fenders back about 2" in the rear, cut the front bumper about 2" angled from the top to the bottom, and beat the snot out of everything else in the way. I still rubbed when backing up (not good on the AC lines on the passenger side, nor the parking brake cable on the driver's side!), and I rubbed on the washer tank when at full lock turning right.

IMO, if you have a Tahoe or Yukon with no rear air, and don't mind deleting your parking brake and modding your washer tank, you CAN fit 315's, but they will NOT fit with any wheels over 10" wide.
