Comp Cams Trunion Upgrade Failure...

http://forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=35225

Lots of others. Take note of what Livernois Motorsports says on the matter. They build thousands of LS engines and do lots of dyno work both engine and chassis

Confirmed: Comp trunion 'upgrade' is a DOWNGRADE

Lots of engine builders swear by the stock rockers, mine and myself included... Again GM spent millions on R&D and failures are rare if you consider quantity out there

Where's the link
For what? I put 3 links about Comp Cams Trunion Upgrade failures in the previous post. #101

Edit: Also keep in mind that these are the same rockers used in almost ALL LS motors. LS1/LS2/LS3, LS9 and L92... That means the 2012+ CTSV/Camaro uses these rockers and a lot of Corvettes and other high performance high revving cars. These guys are making 600 - 650+rwp on stock rockers. Food for thought... Not that many failures considering the MILLIONS of them out there.

Really glad I just came across this build! Will def be following along!
I've been running the 1900 mag for over a year now and I believe I just threw a DOD lifter... not sure yet if the cam is toast as well, or the extent of the damage... testing into her on Tuesday... considering dod delete and obviously a cam while I'm in there... any suggestions? (Not to hijack your thread, looks like you're on top of things lol)

I'd be happy to help... Michigan? I'm White Lake/Commerce area. Just started browsing your build thread, I like it. How do you like the gauge? I dig the corner gauge setup. I also have a steering wheel pod I may install and a 2 gauge pillar one also but I don't think I will like the look. Yours looks slick...

Tear it down and let us know the extent of the damage. Go from there... I know some great machinists if you need someone.

From what I understand there was an issue a few years back but it has since been resolved. I'll pull mine in awhile and check but thanks for the heads up. BTW one of those threads is from 2013. I've heard about what happens if an OEM one fails and even though rare it causes complete engine failure due to the non-captured design. Damn if you do, damn if you don't.

Thursday I was able to get both heads back on with the +.060" Cometic gaskets and ARP bolts torqued, also received my new comp pushrods so I also got the new lifters and rockers in. We were even able to get the LSA installed but I didn't have time to take pics. Getting back at it at 8am on Friday. Here are a few teaser pics below, blower coming pics tomorrow. Headers and Y pipe already back on as well. Should have Muffler and SLP resonator delete installed and the belt drive all finished tomorrow. Had some alignment issues with the idler pulley bracket so I might have to machine something. Will see how the alternator lines up in the AM... Stay tuned!
