I have the Tru Cool 40K on my '05 Yukon XL 2WD and tow a 6500# TT - even in 100 degree weather it barely approaches 200 on hills.

Yea i don't have K5L on my RPO list, My my Tru-Cool Max showed up today and ill install it next weekend. I'm going to dump the tranny pan and replace the filter and add Amsoil. If the transmission grenades itself ill just put a rebuilt one in. I need it to last 2 more years then ill upgrade to a 2017 duramax Denali.

Have a 2007 Suburban 170k miles and I'm towing a 29ft Travel trailer. My tranny has been hitting 230*. I'm wondering if upgrading to a deeper fined pan https://www.yourcovers.com/transpan_9427.php and changing the fluid and filter would help get the temps down. Also I don't think I have a tranny cooler. Im hopping that the truck can last 2 more years and I can upgrade to a New 2017+ 3500HD Denali dually.

Buy a three core radiator, external transmission cooler and 3/8 hose and on the exit of radiator, usually the bottom add that hose and cooler then plug the return to the line.
Did it with my 11 Denali and temps stay at 210, running temp, never going up. I have a 30ft and that's what made me go buy that stuff......

Trailer is 6500 lbs have a weight distribution hitch for 1000 tongue and 10,000 trailer. Truck has the tow package and the GVWR is 7400 lbs. I'm going to install a that transmission cooler and swap to Amsoil ATF. Also install a new tranny filter.

As far as the transmission temps. 230 is hot but not to the point of failure. when it starts hitting 250 for longer then a half hour your cooking the oil. Mine spikes to 230 on hills and drops down to 216 on flats while towing. with out a trailer it sits at 193. I'm thinking fresh fluid a filter and the cooler will bring temps down. I don't think its ever been changed and I've got 170k miles on the clock.

So how's it been since then? I erred in referring to your GVWR as your tow rating, that's the most your truck is supposed to weigh. If your Suburban is 2WD its tow rating is 7,100 pounds and if 4x4 it is 7,000 pounds.
