unknown at this time.
along with your temp you would need the other data in the test to determine if something is out of place. a two degrees swing of temperature that is dependent on rpm is of no concern at this point tho.

Just as reminder, on a hot day, it has to run on max to almost be comfy. back seat people will be losing water weight!

I have a 1998 extended cab truck and a two door Tahoe. Neither provide spectacular cooling in the summer (Mississippi) when compared to the next generation models. But, given a few minutes, they are fine up to temperatures around 90. Much higher and it takes a while to cool down.

If you haven't already done so, take out the blower and clean the evaporator core. If it is filled with debris, that will impact your air flow and cooling. Use a self-rinsing coil cleaner and water hose, the water flowing out of the condensate drain at the passenger firewall.

How-to video:

Regarding the vacuum hose that you mentioned earlier, that may be going to the shutoff valve on the heater core lines. When you turn the temperature dial to "max", this closes the valve, stopping coolant flow to the heater core for, supposedly, better a/c cooling performance.

Here are the diagnostics for a 1998, maybe it will help...
