2007 Tahoe LT 4x4 w/o Bose w/o Nav w/o OnStar.

Getting all parts together for my double din install. As well I have door speakers that are blown out from previous owner, I'm pretty sure he had aftermarket speakers in at one point but when he sold it he must have taken them out. The ones in are trash for sure.

Already have a Pioneer AVH270BT pretty basic unit with hands free calling Bluetooth, rear camera ready, DVD w/ outs for separate monitors, and a couple amp outs. Everything I need and cost less than 200$. I say good deal.

I am going with the metra head unit install kit and most likely the metra wiring kit (basic one w/o chime and stuff) just because the chime and lights are already set at not working at this time and I kind of like it now. Only question is how do we know if we have the stock amp or not and where is it located?

Starting with the door speakers and tweeters. I see that these Hoes have (2) 1 inch tweeters up front (4) 6.5 inch door speakers and (2) 3.5? inch speakers in the rear pillars not sure if they are mids or highs. I am on the wall about getting component speakers for the front doors with tweeters to replace the pillars but not sold yet. Other option up front is to put 6.5 inch mid bass in the front doors and then 2 or 3 way 6.5s speakers in the rear doors. What do y'all think?

Idt I will be doing anything to the rear pillar speakers unless they turn out to be bad as well but after shifting all the L-R & F-R controls I only found that a couple of the doors speakers seem to be the only ones that are bad at this time.

Eventually I want to do a sub enclosure for the center console with a pretty simple set up. 10 inch shallow mount sub down fire with a mono block amp. We will see how near in the future I can get that done with time away from work. But if I don't start a build thread with this being my first mod then this thread will cover all things I mentioned above. I will most likely start a build thread tho so watch out for that. Thanks for help.

Few things to order are:

Not positive on which harness I need tho?
#1. http://www.amazon.com/Metra-70-2104-Radio-Wiring-Harness/dp/B0014ZP2CQ/ref=cm_wl_huc_item
or
#2. http://www.amazon.com/Metra-Electro...AN-Interface/dp/B001UGOMKW/ref=cm_wl_huc_item

#2 looks like the one for the door chime and stuff and that will work fine but would prefer the basic one if anyone can chime in.

Antenna adapter
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...IIHYNQDHHNS32&psc=1&ref_=gl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl

This bad boy will be ordered before the antenna adapter, not sure if adapter is needed with this antenna or not. We will see
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...oliid=ILCAJ1Y59YSSF&ref_=gl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl

Double-Din head unit kit
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...3PMVHDY05TQDC&psc=1&ref_=gl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl

This bad boy so I don't have to worry about the parking brake with DVD
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...liid=I1XDBI9Q3KGUWH&ref_=gl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl

This will be ordered but not sure on when installed but will be in the console for concealment
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...liid=I36NYNRGCH481M&ref_=gl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl

This will be another install date as well with it being a bit more on the longer install time line

The LT should have the regular bose setup, the amp is under the console toward the back, the sub is uder the console toward the front. The only crossover is for the sub, all the other speakers are connected full range. Front tweeter in parallel with the front doors, rear pillars in parallel with the rear doors.
Check the width of the metra dash kit, I had to narrow mine to get the trim back on.

@PaulS63, thanks for that info ill for sure check the dash kit.

I was replacing my brake switch bc I was told by a person yesterday that my brake lights were on the whole time I was driving. I knew from experience what that was and after I fixed that issue I was looking around my center console and just seeing how much space is wasted under there is crazy. I will for sure want to do a 10 inch sub box under there. Not going to spend the 500 bones though on those mass produced boxes though. They never have been worth it to me with it being basic MDS wood screws and a good looking paint job. Even with the AMP included those things are still way over priced. Just my .02c tho.

Also my console seem like it's not the console that the truck came with. It lookes like it was spray pantied black to match the interior. The color on the inside of the console is tan. Any ideas about that? Also after I saw that I looked closer on the all parts of the console and found that the lid is for sure painted as well. You can see the tan where the paint didnt quite reach in between the cracks of the vinyl and plastic lid on top. Kind of crazy.

Dang I think I ordered the wrone one then. I emailed the company to see if they can stop it before it goes out and verify which one I actually need. Thanks for the reply @Denali_WA We will see what they say.

Pulled out the factory head unit and checked the wiring just to make sure I ordered the right one this time and sure enough its the 2 black pigtail one. Sent back the wrong one and ordered the right harness the other day and just waiting for that to come in and ill be able to get the head unit stalled. I also poped the tray/cup holder out to check whats in there and found that a big plug was just laying there not plugged into anything. I am thinking that is the wiring for the factory amp?

Cut a small hole for USB/iPod and AUX cords to be hidden in the console. I'm ordering a USB/AUX plug in that will mount in there, should be able to cover that hole but we will see.

The end product looks good for this basic double din. Everything worked good with hands free calling, sound, DVD, and chime. I taped up the chime quite a bit so it was not so loud.

Happy the DVD works without having the E-Brake on even tho I will prolly never us it, but who knows maybe one day and worth the 12$ for the part to make it happen.

Now just waiting for my speakers to come in for the front doors after I install those I'll order the back and do those as well. I also changed my mind about what speakers to put in. Since I have the 6 speaker set up I'm putting 2 sets of 6.5 mid range speakers in the doors

Hopefully have these in within the next week or so, can't wait to see how they sound.

Since the company I was ordering the speakers from wanted another 50$ for shipping I decided to just get these instead.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008K2ENIA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Give it another week for them to come it and hopefully I can get these installed soon after that. Also got some speaker baffles to install with each speaker so that the dust and water will stay off them also make the sound quality better or doors speakers. Those will be in Monday.

One question I did have is does anyone know where the wires for the front for and pillar slit at and also the rear door and rear pillar split at. If I can't find an answer here soon Ill have to work some to find where is splits so I can tie the cross over into those for the pillars and rear pillars for tweeters. Also found out that I will have to find out how to mount the tweeters onto the factory spots. Fabrication looks to be in my future, yay. . .

These came in today and I just may have enough time to get the doors in today and then I'll be able to figure out how to get the pillars in now depending on what I can fab up for the tweeters

I was able to get all four doors done and will have to work on tweeters for the pillars some more since I have to find a way to mount them to each location.

All four doors were basically the same. I cut out all the plastic pieces holding the speaker together so that all I had left was a factory mounting bracket. My speakers were just the right size that all I had to do was bend 4 small ears on each of them so they fit snugly into the recessed part of the bracket. The pictures are of how I mounted the speakers onto the bracket after I broke all the factory speaker stuff off then the other is how I mounted the baffles. Looks good and sounds good overall turned out to be better and easier than I expected. After the first one I was able to do the other 3 in about 30 min tops.
