Reviving an old thread. Changed mine today and everything you see there was in there. Also my 01 didn't have any screws, it was just a hinged door. 5 minute job and my air blows like you wouldn't believe now.

I have a 03 Thaoe. No more filter in there.

There must be a way to add one?

I need this in my NBS! thanks for posting

Looks like GM is selling a retrofit kit:

http://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...bin-air-filter-retro-kit-gm-oem-parts-533295/

GMT 800's 2003+ (Notice possible conflict, check "L" bracket with dual filters on 2500/3500's)
GMT 900's All

GM Part Numbers (latest style, straight bracket)
22759208 - Retro Fit Kit (bracket & screw) $35-$50 (confirmed this fits a my old 2005 NBS GMT 800 Sierra)
22759203 - Cabin Air Filter $26-$33
23101674 - Cabin "Carbon" Air Filter $26-$33
Only 1 filter is needed

GM Part Numbers early NBS's 1500/2500/3500 GMT 800 "L" bracket type (Older style)
52494070 - "L" Bracket Cabin Air Filter Cover (not sure if screw is included)
19257782 - Cabin Air Filter (QTY 2 half filters)
12489479 - Cabin "Carbon" Air Filter (QTY 2 half filters)

Notes/Maintenance :
Going forward replace cabin filter once a year.

Sorry to dig this thread up from the grave, but did anyone confirm that the second filter up front is for the rear HVAC? Or is there a separate filter back there.
My Tahoe was an Animal Control vehicle. When I turn the rear heat on, it smells like wet dog...

Second filter? I am only aware of one single filter location. You stack two filters together.

Correct, but do the two filters cover both the front and rear units, or is there another filter in the back somewhere?

As far as I know there is no other filter in the back. IF you find out otherwise I'd love to hear about it.

It might be worth disassembling your rear unit and cleaning it out. Ill be the evap is covered in dog fur or something.

I think that GM's reasoning behind having no rear filter is that it draws in air from inside the cabin so theoretically it is "clean" air Not always the case unfortunately.

Oh, man...that's gonna be bad! 16 years of god-knows-what kind of animals in the back. I'm gonna have enough fur to make a new dog. I'll post pics...
