My girl drove it when I was away last and it got hot and made a bunch of noise when it cooled she was able to drive it again but when it got hot again it did the same thing made a loud banging noise she described
Was the correct transfer case I checked that out the truck has 4wd buttons not lever and I made sure it was all correct the problem is the transmission but not entirely sure what is going on to make the transmission over heat
Yes noisy when hot but I'm trying to figure out why it got hot in the first place the problem/component is the transmission and the burnt transmission Fluid
The transmission fluid is burnt and I don't know the difference but the transfer case fluid is still the same color and viscosity as when I added it a few months ago and the transmission fluid is not blackish in color and smells very burnt like it got real hot and list its viscosity
So I guess now I will pop off the cooler lines to see if they seem to be clear I'm nervous to drop the trans pan I'm not really trying to sink alot of money in the truck if it's too much ill just have to sell it I'm hoping it's something simple
The transfer case was used from a junkyard I drained the old fluid and put the good stuff back in never took it apart because I know nothing about rebuilding them I suspect the transmission I do know the transfer case was freely spinning before I installed it it wasn't seized or anything
Okay so had an issue with transfer case I replaced the transfer case and after I did my girl was driving the truck and smelled transfer fluid burning I checked the fluid it's black and burnt I'm not entirely sure what's going on but any ideas as to what caused this ? The truck still drives no...
