Pour one out for a fallen Yukon

I'll likely continue lurking. I was putting up the cash and fixed this one up for her, but she says she'll handle getting her replacement car. So if she wants another Yukon, so be it. I'll definitely dissuade her from getting a major fixer upper like this one was if it comes to it though. It...

Pour one out for a fallen Yukon

Well, after a bunch of work and money, my kid wrecked the car. She's bruised up a bit, but fortunately she'll be just fine. As for the car, ain't no coming back. The roof is absolutely smashed in, the frame is jacked, and the driver side suspension is in pieces in a field somewhere. I'm not...

How to know if transmission is 4x4 or 4x2?

Is it in the rpo codes or the vin somewhere?

Transmission whining noise, codes, and can't drive over 40mph

The transmission has over 200K on it and I read P0741 & P0757 when I hooked up a code reader. The under hood transmission dipstick seemed to read OK. Somebody tell me this car isn't toast after all the work I put into ito_O

Can the brake system be bled if the EBCM does not work?

The description of the problem I was encountering is in this thread. https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/several-abs-codes.133222/post-1667649 I cleaned up the ground on the frame rail close to the front driver side rail good. After I saw no change there, I tried to confirm there was...

Can the brake system be bled if the EBCM does not work?

I attempted to fix my module, but it was unsuccessful. Fortunately, I'm not concerned about having ABS. However, I have a problem that I didn't consider before starting my brake line job. I've already replaced a couple brake lines that connect to the ABS valve and I still have some more to go...

Do Yukon HVAC systems use both orfice tube and a TXV?

I'm doing some reading about car A/C systems and I wanted to compare what I read to what I see. From what I read in a service manual and along with some poking around rockauto, it looks like this car has both in it. If true, that's surprising as I thought a car would only have one system or the...

So your a/c is leaking refrigerant as fast as you are putting it in?

Good write up. I was checking the refrigerant levels on another car and after removing the gauge set, I got leaking. I totally think I inadvertently unscrewed the valve core now that I read this. I replaced the core, but not after a bunch of refrigerant leaked out. Lost $200 on that mistake....

How to temporarily seal brake line leak?

For starters, this car WILL NOT be driven anywhere until the line is repaired. All I want is to stop the leaking in my driveway till I can get everything together I need. It's a pin sized hole with a slow leak and I tried to just wrap it with duck tape but it hasn't really slowed the flow.

What size nut for master cylinder port block off

If you have an endoscope, you can pull the brake booster check valve and look inside for signs of leaks. Not 100% conclusive, but it's something. I'd like to know the correct size also.

Alternator Will Not Charge During Idle But Charges At Higher Engine Speed?!?!?

If you look at a RPM on a scantool, does it match what you're seeing on the tach?

Will I have to worry about an ABS bleed if I replace the rear brake line?

Good to know. As for your question. I do research, but if I encounter something unfamiliar, how else will I learn what I need to?

Will I have to worry about an ABS bleed if I replace the rear brake line?

As discovered in my other thread, I need to replace the rear brake line that runs on the driver side frame rail. Is there a high likelihood I'll introduce air into the ABS upon replacing this line?

Caliper not bleeding with pressure bleeder

Well I think I might have an idea why the bleeding seemed off. I didn't really notice the rear brake line was blown at all. I just pressure bled what I could at each wheel and then when I got in, started the car, and pumped the brakes, I heard the whooshing. I then saw a big puddle of...

Caliper not bleeding with pressure bleeder

I installed a new brake hose to replace the original hose to rule out a restriction, but it still seems to be the same flow rate. I do see that if I close the bleeder for a little bit and then open it again, the fluid always has the brief surge I noted in the first post. Maybe it really does...

Caliper not bleeding with pressure bleeder

Yes. I'd say I got it open enough since the fluid was able to surge out initially. Ah man, I didn't know you weren't supposed to pump the brakes to get fluid to new calipers:(

Caliper not bleeding with pressure bleeder

I'm using the motive power bleeder and I'm attempting to bleed the rear passenger caliper. I also just replaced this caliper. I initially pumped the brake pedal a few times to try to get some fluid to the new caliper. I then connected the bleeder and pumped it to 15psi. The bleeder screw was...

Stripped out rear caliper bleeder screw hole

Trust me, it happens. Especially, when you use aftermarket stuff. Oh yea, for anyone getting a caliper locally, make sure the bleeder on the replacement is the same size as the originals. I had to pull the caliper off again and install another after I realized the bleeder was way wider. If it...

Stripped out rear caliper bleeder screw hole

Alright, I grabbed another one at Autozone. What a pain. I actually installed a Dorman 13908 at first and I did notice I had to work to get the thing to stop leaking out. At least to save someone else this problem, I'd say just go OEM even if your dealership is a little out of the way.

Stripped out rear caliper bleeder screw hole

I rounded off the original bleeder and replaced with a brake best brand bleeder. During tightening I stripped out the hole though. The screw is out but I think I might have to replace the caliper. Do I have any other options?

How do I know if I have a limited slip axle?

Hate to be dim. So this means the dealer was wrong?

How do I know if I have a limited slip axle?

Ok, I confirmed it with the dealer and I do have a limited slip differential. I have the RPO code G80.

How do I know if I have a limited slip axle?

I need to replace the rear slide pin boot. They come in two options: with limited slip axle and w/o limited slip axle.
