    power steering hose

16mm on top or 5/8, 18mm or 3/4 (a tad loose...) on bottom. Don't forget the o-rings... I had to pull the AC bracket. Pain in the butt... Best explanation from Mark Simko: OK, for the record, the large aluminum bracket did need to be removed from the engine. To do this: 1. remove the top...

pulled the trigger... LQ4/4L80 swap (6.0 vortec)

Cool project. I've got a '96 Hoe that could use some 6 liter love. Might be a good excuse to drop the Hoe engine into my '71 Blazer... Wish I had more time and $$$. Watching this thread. Good luck, Tony ---------- Post added at 05:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:32 PM ----------...

    Debadging & Polishing my 96'

Clay bar is a less aggressive way to get down to the clear coat. Usually used prior to a full detailing job to get the nicest surface to start with. It cuts through sap and other crap that builds up on the clear coat. Compounding is a more aggressive buffing that uses paste-based abrasives...

It sounds more like oxidation. Try clay bar on a spot and see if you can polish it out. There's a good chance your truck just needs a good compounding/buffing.

    installation kit...

Isn't it the GM10 ant adapter? Also, if you want the deck centered in the 1.5 DIN space at the top, use this kit: http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-GM1483B-1995-02-General-Motors/dp/B000EIQMHS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1289849713&sr=8-1

Torch Suggestions - Heating Bolts and other items...

If you have a harbor freight near you, they sell a portable set that isn't bad at $279 complete with gas and 02 tanks. They sell the small tank refills, as well. Good if you don't want or need the giant tanks of a standard set. Plus the portable part is REALLY handy sometimes...

Removing chrome fender trim, Pain in the ass!

Yikes! On the stubborn ones, make sure your phillips head is the right size and use a light hammer to tap the end of the screw driver. It should break the screw free. Also on tough screws and bolts, try tightening them a tad. Then they usually loosen easier.

    Keyless Remote (Key Fob)

Just reprogrammed a used one I got off ebay for $12 shipped. Reprogramming is super easy on these trucks. Also picked up one for my wife's Durango and it was even easier (no jumper needed...) Great looking 2-door!

I agree it would look better without the trim, but if you have issues underneath, you could always go with the black wheel well trim from LMC. It's only $50 or so and wouldn't stand out as much.

The big block has always been a real thought on the '71, I'd love a 502 backed by an NV4500 5-speed. Don't know if I could afford the fuel, but I don't pass many gas stations as it is... lol. Good luck with your health and getting back to restoration. I enjoy it almost as much as driving. :)

So far, I'm enjoying the ride quality. I so used to the kidney punches from the '71, the leather couch and boat-like float are a little seductive... Given my need to tweak, I'm sure I'll want it stiffer, at least. I need to pull a 4-horse trailer, so power and possibly some Dana 60s might...

Just wanted to drop a note and thanks for the great forum. I just picked up a '96 Tahoe with 241K miles. I've been looking at them for quite awhile and was really looking to get a newer 6.0 liter, but the price was right on the '96 and after a close inspection and test drive, I grabbed it...
