    Losing Brake Pedal Pressure

It is a new Duralast master cylinder. It looks like the one I originally bought had a defect. The replacement works perfectly.

    Losing Brake Pedal Pressure

Alright, I had a good chance to look at my Yukon today after work. After spending a couple of hours trying to find the leak and it turns out it was internal. A shout out to @swathdiver for suggesting the master cylinder. It turns out the one I bought from Autozone was leaking internally and...

    Losing Brake Pedal Pressure

Howdy, My '05 Yukon XL has an issue where the brake pedal loses pressure when at a stop. To the point where it starts rolling through the brakes and the "Service Brakes" alarm sounds. I recently changed all the steel brake lines, master cylinder and bled the lines a couple times. That thread...

Mushy Brake Pedal After New Brake Lines

Thanks for the info! I will try this when I get finished installing my new mc. Turns out the old one was built on Feb 22, 2005. Defiantly time for a replacement!

Mushy Brake Pedal After New Brake Lines

@argus Its a little tricky to find the setting that bleeds pump in the Foxwell Scan tool. Here is a video that uses a different scan tool, but it’s very similar. Look around a bit in the abs section and you will find it.

Mushy Brake Pedal After New Brake Lines

I’m using a Foxwell Scan tool. Here is the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072VGJ7S8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_IvtBCbMW2R6RQ As for the slightly squishyness you are speaking of. GM SUVs and pickups have always had a slightly squishy brake pedal. As long as you are not sending the pedal to the...

Mushy Brake Pedal After New Brake Lines

Thanks for the reply. To my knowledge the MC is original. I've never replaced it. Unless the previous owner replaced the MC, than its the original one from the factory. It may be time to replace it. My Mom was driving when the brake lines gave out on a highway with traffic lights on it. She said...

Mushy Brake Pedal After New Brake Lines

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks for the advice. I had my younger brother pumping the pedal as I was going around and opening the bleeders. Hopefully, he did not go to the floor with it.

Mushy Brake Pedal After New Brake Lines

I already used an OBD tool to get the ABS to bleed the air out of it when I bleed the system. I have a feeling that there is still air in the master cylinder. I will bleed the master cylinder again when I have some time this week or next weekend, following iamdub's suggestion about pushing the...

Mushy Brake Pedal After New Brake Lines

I did bleed it already. I will try again. As iamdub mentioned to go all the way to the floor when bleeding. I did not do that. I will when I bleed them again.

Mushy Brake Pedal After New Brake Lines

Howdy, My '05 Yukon XL recently suffered from the dreaded rusty brake lines. I replaced all the steel lines with new ones and filled and bleed the system, including the ABS pump. However, my brake pedal is still mushy and goes to the floor easily. I have heard the master cylinder can wear out...

Brake Pad Issues '05 Yukon XL

Howdy All, My Yukon XL has been having an uneven braking issue with the brakes. The front pads are wearing unevenly on driver side. To clarify, the pads wear evenly but the braking surface does not. The driver side rotor has a smaller braking surface than the passenger side, and yes, it does...

    Water Leak '05 Yukon XL

Thanks for the reply. I have never had the water pump off before, but I can't imagine it will be as a big of a pain as the 6.6L Zuzu (Duramax) water pumps. But is it common for the gaskets to fail on these water pumps?

    Water Leak '05 Yukon XL

Howdy All, I have a '05 Yukon XL with the 5.3L and it has a coolant leak. It took me forever to find it, but eventually I did, and its leaking from behind the water pump. I was wondering if anyone knows of any common failure points on the water pumps for the 5.3L engines? I am unsure as to...

    Stalling

It might be a vacuum leak. Have your Yukon checked for vacuum leaks. Having a leak can cause the vehicle to not run right.

    Stalling

Is the computer storing any codes? Have the computer scanned by an OBDII scanner and see if there are any codes. It may help pinpoint a cause. Note. The computer can sometimes store codes and not turn on the check engine light. EDIT You can take your Yukon to AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts...

My 2005 Yukon Denali XL only tow's 7,900 compared to my 5.3 which is 8600?

I am sure there are bigger coolers available, where to find them, I am not sure. You could look at stores that specialize in customization. A place like a rim and sound store may be able to help you find upgrades. They should be able to find a brake upgrade and any other upgrades or accessories...

    REACHING FOR STRAWS

Check the spark plug. I have had instances where the spark plug fails but the ignition coil is still good. It looks like the codes are a result of the swap to the 799 heads. From what I can tell, the computer is trying to compensate for the out of range air flow. So it is running too rich and...

    Brake issue on 2001 Yukon

I would replace the brake line. It most likely has collapsed. I had a '07 VUE that did that. I had to replace both front brake lines, and the front passenger caliper cause I broke the bleeder valve right off the caliper and couldn't fix it.

My 2005 Yukon Denali XL only tow's 7,900 compared to my 5.3 which is 8600?

Your thinking is not far off. The 6.0L is much more powerful than the 5.3L. So yes, the 6.0L can pull more. As to your brakes, the 1/2 ton (1500) Yukons, Tahoes and Suburban's brakes are not that powerful compared to a 3/4 ton (2500) Suburban brakes. The company I work for has a 2010 Seirra...

Are upstream and down stream oxygen sensor interchangable?

Not usually, a lot of times the cables on the sensors are different lengths. So one might work in both positions and the other may only work in one. Lord Snax
