My 04 LT 5.3L starts to overheat when it sits at idle with the A/C on. The only thing I’ve done so far is I installed a dual electric fans that pull a lot more air than the stock manual fan but even with this it still climbs in temperature. The only thing that I have changed to the cooling...
I’m sure this has been discussed before but I wanted to start a new post because my situation I believe is unique.
2004 Tahoe 5.3L with CNC ported 799 heads
Ok so I just changed my oil approximately 500 miles ago. So I’m planning on driving a total of 4 hours tomorrow so I decided to give the...
Other than not heating the throttle body, if I block off the coolant bypass ports will it hurt anything else? I live in Oklahoma and it doesn’t get cold enough for the throttle body to be heated. The metal hose is leaking and it’s cheaper for me to block them off than buying a new metal hose...
I have a 57’ Chevy pickup with a 5.3L swap and converted to carburetor with the Edlebrock intake and MSD 6014 control box. It’s got flattop pistons and a Howard’s cam .555 lift 267/276 duration. I’m having a backfire when I floor it from a stop. Holley says it a lean backfire. So they suggest...
I measured the alternator voltage at idle and it’s around 16 volts. Should I be concerned? I always thought that normal is around 14 volts charging. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks
Can anyone help me identify this rear axle? I know that it’s a banjo style. At first I thought it was a Ford 9” but now I know that it’s not. Any ideas
auhhh!!! The age ol question. Should I supercharge or turbo. Well I finally broke down and bought a Vortech supercharger. I’ve been going back and forth on whether I should or not on my daily driver. And whether I should supercharge or turbo if I do. Here’s my reason for choosing the...
The GM55 torque converter comes from the 4.2L trailblazer. I’ve heard about using this torque converter for the 5.3L 4L60E because of the higher stall 2200-2600 rpm. Has anyone done this? If so is it a direct swap or do I have to change the flywheel as well?
2004 Tahoe with too many mods to list.
can anyone tell me which fuel line is the feed line and which one is the return line? I’m guessing that the 3/8 line on top is the feed line and the 5/16 line on bottom is the return line. Thanks
I bought this two piece intake for my 2004 5.3L. Now there are some very minor outside differences but it will work and supposedly give you more power. Here’s some pictures of mine. I’m nowhere near complete but I was so excited I thought I’d show everyone. You can pick up this intake on eBay...
2004 4L60E built to handle approximately 500hp new sun shell booster valve five pinion planetary gears sonnax high strength output shaft etc etc etc. so this is the third time I got my Tahoe back and it’s still leaking under the front of the transmission. They replaced the pump seal and input...
Does anyone know where I can pick up a adjustable fuel pressure regulator for a stock intake 5.3L LS engine with a return line? I have several upgrades including a 100psi pump and 72lb injectors tuned and ready to go. I just need to raise the pressure to get the full effect of my upgrades...
I thought about trying to start a daily driver 1/4 racing league here in Oklahoma. Kind of a race what you drove to the track. Any thoughts? Dumb idea or not. How could I get it started?
Pardon my rant:
This is probably the most frustrating problem I have ever experienced as a mechanic for the past 20 years. 2004 Tahoe 5.3L L59 Flex fuel engine with a drive by wire setup which by the way the dumbest thing GM ever did and is also the reason for my problem. Yes it could all be fix...
Does anyone know if the GM casting 243 or 799 heads will work on the L76 6.0 engine? I have a set that are milled .030 and CNC ported and I'm looking to upgrade to a 6.0 L from a 5.3L
can anyone provide any information about the LS based engines and their loose timing chains. I actually have a L59 engine that doesn't even have a tensionor or dampener or even the threaded holes to install one. I read a popular magazine that said that the reason for the loose chain is by design...
I'm just curious if I have the fastest daily driver Tahoe or large SUV in OKC?
My upgrades include but not limited to:
K&N cold air intake
Flowmaster exhaust system cat forward and backward
BBK 80mm throttle body
102mm summit racing MAF
Heddman 1-5/8 headers
60lbs injectors
799 GM...
I have an 04 Tahoe 5.3L Flex fuel. All header tubes read about 400 degrees except for number 6 which is only about 280. I clearly have a misfire. Checked compression and it's at about 150psi. Swapped coils with another cylinder with no results. Swapped injectors with no results. Any idea on...
2004 Chevy Tahoe 2WD LT 5.3L L59 Flex fuel.
This is for anyone who is having a intermittent battery not charging display with the battery light on and off. I had this same problem. Battery light goes on and off at random. I first took it to Autozone and had the alternator tested and it tested...
