New member/new Tahoe owner here (2010 LTZ)! Loving it so far, but getting the runaround on a repair quote and also have a few questions in general.

I installed the Vigor air shocks and new Dorman compressor about a year ago and they've been great.

Suburban 2500 or Yukon XL Denali?

The 2012 Denali XL is still purring along with no issues. Have put about 40K miles on her since I bought it with 100K. I need rear brakes again and going to do pads and rotors. Front differential pinion seal replaced recently as it was starting to seep, and a new relay switch for the brake...

Will 5.3 to 6.0 (LQ4) make a big difference in towing?

I tow a 7k TT and family of 5 plus German Sheppard all around CA, OR, NV so climb all the hills. Started with a 2005 Yukon XL 1500 with the 5.3 and 3.42. Hills killed me. Upgraded to 2012 Yukon XL Denali - pulls great with the 6 speed, and I really like the auto level. Earlier this year I picked...

Update 5/2/21 - Bounce and Porpoising - Especially Towing

Update 5/2/21 Front shocks were shot - replaced with the Bilstein 4600s, also replaced the first Timbren’s with the replacement pair they sent. So far much better, will dial in WDH next weekend but feel these 2 items will go along way to fixing the issue. Pics for reference - original shocks...

Update 5/2/21 - Bounce and Porpoising - Especially Towing

Appreciate it - my thoughts exactly and precisely why I bought it. Had been looking for about a year. Wanted something I can keep for the next couple decades. Wife approved :) The trailer is not a toy hauler, dry weight 5,500 and scale verified 6,420 loaded. Yes, the 5.3L did not like hills, but...

Update 5/2/21 - Bounce and Porpoising - Especially Towing

Great questions George, happy to answer because I'm trying to get this figured out myself. I probably should have mentioned it's not a new trailer - I've towed it with my 1/2 tons over 7,000 miles the last 4 years with no issues other than under power with the 5.3L/3.42 combo on my previous 2005...

Update 5/2/21 - Bounce and Porpoising - Especially Towing

Without having looked it up - where do the airbags go with the leaf springs In back? Had previously considered on my 1/2 ton but those went inside the rear springs. Thanks for the input.

Update 5/2/21 - Bounce and Porpoising - Especially Towing

To be comprehensive I plan to re-weigh and get axle weights this time. Note the total Gross of 13.5 was fully loaded and the trailer was unhitched and weighed separate. Thanks for the input I’ll keep providing updates until I get it figured out.

Update 5/2/21 - Bounce and Porpoising - Especially Towing

Understood, I’d be inclined to trust the manufacturer recommendation as they state there is no difference between the 2 besides length to accommodate higher rides. I towed it with my previous 1/2 ton Yukon XL without added suspension just fine. My wife’s Denali pulls it it fine (of course it has...

Update 5/2/21 - Bounce and Porpoising - Especially Towing

Appreciate your input James (and others) - it's been weighed at a scale which I included, 6,420 TT only 13,520 total Gross. Dry tongue weight is listed at 540lbs - and I have the storage in the front loaded with 2 cases of water dead center, and all of our gear so it is easily another 100lbs...

Update 5/2/21 - Bounce and Porpoising - Especially Towing

I picked up a 2005 Yukon XL 2500 with 6.0L and 4.10 rear axle and only 91K miles a few months ago to serve as the primary tow vehicle for my 6.5K travel trailer. It's been exactly what I wanted and we've had it out on 3 trips covering several hundred miles and it's performed great - except the...

The right price for Suburban 2500 6.0L?

I replaced my wife's DD 1500 with a 2012 Denali XL to also use as our TV for our 7K TT and it tows fine. However, I still wanted a 2500 for myself and looked for about a year seriously before finding a 2005 with 6.0 and 4.10 rear axle ratio with only 90K miles - it pulls better than the Denali...

    Do I need a 2500?

I had a 2005 Yukon XL 1500 2WD when we first purchased our 28ft 5,500lb (dry) 6,700lb (loaded) TT and and it was not a fun towing experience on any grade. Seemed to do fine on flat ground but any hill and we were down to 25-35MPH with the trans trying to drop into first. Had to replace rear...

    2005 GMC Yukon XL 2500

I had been looking for a 2003-2006 3/4 ton, and since I’m in CA I preferred to find a local 1 owner low mileage option to use as a primary tow vehicle for our 28ft, 6,700lb (loaded) travel trailer. As anyone on this page can attest, the market really exploded for these things in the last year or...

    1998 Suburban C2500 Towing Performance

Thinking about towing my 7K TT with a 1998 C2500 Suburban 2WD with the 7.4L, any real world experience? Rated to 8,500 with the 3.73, will it struggle up hills? How is general reliability of the 7.4L big block? Anyone know the rear axle weight rating for these, and are they full or semi float...

Looking to purchase Burb/Yukon XL. What year?

2012 Yukon XL Denali here. Used as wife's DD and to tow our 6.5K TT a few times a year. Wife gets 10-12 MPG around town, 16-18 highway at 75-80, MPH and 8-10 while towing. DVD nice, we don't use a lot except for longer trips. Cooled seats are really nice. These have AFM, some changes made...

In desperate search of 04-14 model Yukon Denali XL

In Norcal, bought a 2012 Denali XL in Jan '19 with 100K miles, have put about 4-5K into it, mostly proactive maintenance since it does tow our TT (tru Cool trans cooler, new radiator, oil/engine cooling lines, new battery, spark plugs, wires, tires, and seemingly solved an electrical gremlin by...
