    Loving my E85 right now

I've been running it exclusively for about a year now. I'll pour a can of Berryman's B12 in every couple of months when I think about it just for the hell of it. Hard starts/extended cranking and rougher cold start idle are normal with E85 in cold weather. We don't have enough cold weather...

    Coolant Drain Plug on Block...2012 / 5.3

Ah, a tinkerer/fabricator, too, are ya? BTW, the same can be done for the fill plug on manual transmissions if you don't have a large enough hex wrench.

    Coolant Drain Plug on Block...2012 / 5.3

I found a bolt and nut that fit that plug (5/8" head maybe?). I welded the nut to the bolt, inserted it into the plug and used a socket and ratchet to turn it.

    Short block purchase

You would think with all the other mods, it'd have different heads or modded heads. Although, it has rings gapped for boost. Maybe low boost and bumped compression for peppiness when off boost, being a truck engine? OP needs to get some important details.

    Short block purchase

I was wondering this as well. If the 706s were modded (2" intake valves and mild porting), they could be better than the 243/799 with their equal or better flow volume but more turbulent swirl and higher compression. That higher compression would compliment the cam.

Growing up doesn't have to suck

I'm driving 90 miles to see a chick. Clearly, a driveshaft is NOT what's on my mind.

Growing up doesn't have to suck

I've already forgotten about it. lol Been seeing a girl 90 miles away and haven't had the ol' Hippo off the road long enough to dismantle her. Of course, now that I'm looking at the driveshaft area, I'm tempted to have that custom aluminum one made up.

Growing up doesn't have to suck

It's summer. Do it. Don't be a bítch. Ease into it by undermounting without the spacer first and take precise B/A measurements after a settling drive.

It was just as I found it. No drips. But, I don't expect it to get better.

Growing up doesn't have to suck

I somehow missed all the following replies. I have that same hardware kit- "720BAG3". RC's drop kit including the spacer being advertised as a 2" drop is where I'm confused. Without that .25" spacer, I should be around a 1.5" drop with just the undermount. I'm a visual learner. I...

Aluminum / XFE NNBS Front Suspension Rebuild

The only drawback is that you have to pull the axles to swap the backing plates. Considering the cost of the bolt-on kit versus the parts from a salvage yard or even parts store, I wouldn't consider it such a drawback. The diff fluid might need to be changed, anyway. May as well replace the...

Aluminum / XFE NNBS Front Suspension Rebuild

When I converted my 2002 to rear discs, I just got the setup off of a Blazer. Direct bolt-on and the abutment brackets just needed a little shimming with some Grade 8 washers. I also deleted the proportioning valve and ran the lines straight into the master cylinder, Later on, I replaced the...

    2007 tahoe motor swap

Does the 2013 Silverado NOT have VVT? @Dougie1290, the engine will swap and bolt up. If your Tahoe is FlexFuel and the Silverado is not, just swap your Tahoe intake manifold to the replacement engine. If your Tahoe is not FlexFuel and the Silverado is, again, keep your original intake...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

The earlier design of door panel was actually stronger, at least at the arm rest support portion. Why off eBay? There are lots of great salvage yards between Poplarville and Baton Rouge. Might could've gotten both matching panels and switches for that amount, especially from one of the many...

It can be done......a road trip experience

Actually, I was in NO/Metairie/Kenner all last weekend! My bestie from the midwestie (Indiana, recently moved from Kenner) came down for an Irish-Italian gala Friday night to which I accompanied her and her friend/ex-coworker (now her and I are "friends" :D). We meandered through NO on...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Mine will be installed one year this Cinco de Mayo. So far, no issues. Perhaps we could compare you two with how your AGMs were used? Like, did the vehicles often sit for a few days or a week or whatever between crankings or were they used daily, etc.? Just trying to see if there are some...

Growing up doesn't have to suck

Took some measurements to get an idea of the drop from under-mounting the struts. Control arm is right at 1": The bar pin on the new Bilstein strut is right at 1/2" thick. This means the strut will sit 1.5" lower. Wouldn't this equate to nearly a 3" drop? Just to try to get half-assed...

Growing up doesn't have to suck

5K service (oil change and tire rotation) last night. Catch can had the expected 2 oz. Drain plug magnet had about the same iron on it as last time. Engine might be eating itself and the clock is ticking. It's been a hard 30K miles. 230K badge of honor: I also noticed my next project...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I get it! My local LKQ was my happy place 'til it closed. Besides the interesting stories some cars told, I always found stuff I didn't know I needed and parts from other cars that prompted my next custom retrofit project. I like the factory hitch idea. You can't beat a hitch that was...

Recommendations for quiet muffler for custom exhaust

That's the characteristics I like about these mufflers. Calm when you want it calm, proportionately loud when appropriate. The scale of volume is determined simply by the length. Although subjective, I believe the sound itself compliments these types of vehicles. Best bang for the buck, IMO.

Recommendations for quiet muffler for custom exhaust

How long is it? (That's what she said) These elliptical ("oval") straight-through packed mufflers are all about the same width and height. It's the body length that gives us reference as to how loud it'll be. Generally, the 22" will be like stock, 18" will be a few notches louder (but still...
